MEGA Dance Party - students show their talent outside the classroom

Last Thursday, Dr Gauld and the team from the Macquarie Education Group held their annual MEGA Dance Party bringing students across colleges and campuses together.

The night was a great success with students and staff enjoying the opportunity to let their hair down and dress up for the occasion. The theme for the night was to dress as someone famous - a big hit with students and an even bigger hit for staff. The talent quest gave the hip hoppers the chance to face off against the rappers and salsa dancers, and provided the opportunity for students to show off some of their other skills not usually seen in the classroom.

The evening was a showcase for social inclusion and breaking down the barriers - nothing beats music and dancing to bring people together! For many young international students, this is their first real opportunity to experience the party activities that Australian kids have.  It helps them to bond with their new country and have fun the Australian way. It also breaks down cultural barriers and enhances the relationships between students and staff. ACPET NSW Member Support Officer, Sarah Rosen was again invited to share in the fun and draw the lucky door prizes.

The Macquarie Education Group encompasses Macquarie English College, Macquarie Institute, Macquarie Grammar School, Macquarie Mandarin and Macquarie Coaching College, with over 1000 students from around the globe and a growing number of domestic  students.
